Smell the scent of the eucalyptus trees and learn the secrets of harvesting the ubiquitous cork trees.

In tiny white washed villages where time seems to have stood still you can see some of the old customs still in practice - the traditional way of making honey and of distilling "medronho" - a very potent local drink which you will have the chance to sample.A tasty lunch is provided in a pleasant and typical restaurant.
After lunch a relaxing cruise along the River Arade. The river rises in the hills and was an important historical river route plied by the Romans and subsequent settlers in the area. The Arade reaches the sea at the town of Portimão - in ancient times and still today, an important commercial port. As you cruise along the river you can enjoy the lush scenery, the soothing sound of birdsong, the river wildlife and the hypnotic lapping of the water against the boat.
